Breaking Bad – Season 2, Episode 3: “Bit by a Dead Bee” « agayamat

Setting: In the afternoon – I had family over, but I was watching alone for the most part in my living room.

I was racking my brain, trying to figure out how Walter and Jesse would explain their absence, let alone being abducted over the last episode. I was pretty certain after the closing scene in the last episode, that the two would avoid any mention of any interaction with Tuco – considering Walter escaped being seen by Hank in the desert. But the deed was accomplished. Walter and Jesse had their alibis planned.

I was expecting the title of this episode to have more significance, without having to do much searching. But I wasn't. The title is from the dialogue of a film that I have never seen, To Have and Have Not
(1944) as stated on Wikipedia – I couldn't find anything else:

As far as the alibis go – I did feel bad for Walter and Jesse, as it did slow them down, Jesse more so since he was forced to deny owning the $67,920 that was found in his car. Prior to Jesse getting picked up by the police, he cleaned out his house of everything that had to do with the meth production. He assumed that his operation with Walter came to an end. I knew better – even before the phone conversation Jesse had with Walter where Walter asked, "What's changed?" Nothing has changed – it was just a really long speed bump.

Now with Walter, he actually lied to get out of another lie. I don't think it was so bad in doing so otherwise he would have to spend more time in the hospital for psychiatric evaluation. But as far as lying goes, it's just that if you tell too many lies, you might get lost in it. Now that Walter was released from the hospital, he has to walk on egg shells around his family to keep the first lie alive – in regards to the amnesia. In the scene where Walter and Jr. were in the hospital room as Walter was preparing to leave, Jr. was enforcing the nurse's orders by making sure his father stays hydrated – poor Jr.
