Eurostarlets #014: Stefania Sandrelli

Cute Stefania Sandrelli in a Continental Film Review image from Carlo Lizzani's 1969, L'Amante di Gramigna (The Bandit). Set in the Sicily of 1865, Giuseppe Gramigna (Gian Maria Volonte) and his father have a small house on several acres of land for which they have made many sacrifices. Compelled to sell a piece of the land to the neighbouring Baron Nardo, Gramigna realizes only after he has signed the deed, that he has been tricked into selling the house as well. Gramigna takes to the hills and swears vengeance on those who took part in the underhanded deal. A woman moves into the house with her daughter, Gemma (Sandrelli), who is engaged to one of the Baron's men. But when Gramigna attacks the house and has to retreat into the hills, wounded the young girl follows him. She nurses him back to health and they fall in love, but their affair ultimately ends in disaster.
In the image depicted, Sandrelli is stripped and inspected by some old hags. Sandrelli is probably best known to giallo fans as Anna Tellini, Inspector Tellini's adorable wife in La Tarantola dal Ventre Nero (1971).
