Eurostarlets #34: Pier Angeli

Pretty Italian starlet Pier Angeli (Anna Maria Pierangeli) opposite Telly Savalas in an original still from the enjoyable, though historically incorrect, World War II epic, Battle of the Bulge (1965). Once married to fav composer Armando Trovajoli, Pier Angeli has an interesting genre resumé made up of various eurospy adventures, euroswashbucklers, the Silvio Amadio eurowestern, Per Mille Dollari al Giorno (1968), Fernando di Leo's eurowar adventure, Rose Rosse per il Fuhrer (1968), an early polizeischi, La Vera Storia di Frank Mannata (1969) and, of course, Sergio Bergonzelli's weird giallo, Nelle Pieghe della Carne (In the Folds of the Flesh, 1970). Nudity and Eroticism in the Euro War Adventure #002

Some suggestive images of the lovely Katia Christine (as Kristy), from Continental Film Review, in Maurizio Lucidi's 1969, Probabilitá Zero, co-written by Dario Argento who also provided the story. Henry Silva stars, in another The Dirty Dozen-inspired adventure, as an American Officer assembling a group of outsiders for a suicide mission, which entails to infiltrate and destroy an impregnable fortress, behind enemy lines, in Nazi-occupied Norway.

This beautiful blond actress was born in Holland in 1946. She is probably best known to genre fans for her part as Fabienne Béranger, Tomas Milian's lover in "La Vittima Designata" (1971). Apart from the occasional Eurowestern, she also appears in "Histoires Extraordinaires" (1968), "La Mano che Nutre la Morte", "Le Amanti del Mostro", the obscure and rather terrible "5 Donne per l'Assassino" (all 1974) while in the same busy year she also bears her considerable charms in "Prigione di Donne".

Nicely evocative image from Continental Film Review, depicting a scene from Camille Bazzoni's 1968 Commando Suicida. Inspired by The Dirty Dozen, a group of misfit commandos are dropped behind enemy lines into Nazi-occupied France. Guided by a sergeant of the Free French Forces, their mission is to destroy an airfield guarding an industrial zone, important to the Germans's resistance during the Allied landings on D-Day.
