Argento's Tenebre

Original French still from Dario Argento's gorgeous 1982 giallo, Tenebre. Check out the Starfix article on the Italian master's innovative use of the Louma crane, on my 80s genre blog, In Space, No One Can Eat Ice Cream.

Snow White in Swiss Transylvania

Lengthy dossier from French magazine L'Ecran Fantastique (issue 57, 1985) on Dario Argento's gorgeous Phenomena.

The Mother of Sighs: Argento's Suspiria

One Night at the Metropol

Well, while I'm at it, two marvelous 1980s SFX-oriented articles on Lamberto Bava's Demoni (1985), from the terrific French magazine, L'Ecran Fantastique.

Eurostarlets #32: Jennifer Connelly

Pretty Jennifer Connelly in two original stills from Dario Argento's fabulous Phenomena (1984). I simply love this film, I actually grew up with it (I was 15 when it was released and I got to see it, luckily for us Europeans in the original uncut version) and it has always remained one of my personal favorites. It was the first Argento I ever saw and I totally fell in love with his style and visuals and, of course, Claudio Simonetti's haunting themes.

Dreams in the Witch House

Gorgeous original still with a young Jennifer Connelly menaced in Dario Argento's stunning but often misunderstood masterpiece, Phenomena (1985). Read the lovely review over at Quiet Cool and give this movie a chance, you will not regret it!

Nudity and Eroticism in the Euro War Adventure #002

Some suggestive images of the lovely Katia Christine (as Kristy), from Continental Film Review, in Maurizio Lucidi's 1969, Probabilitá Zero, co-written by Dario Argento who also provided the story. Henry Silva stars, in another The Dirty Dozen-inspired adventure, as an American Officer assembling a group of outsiders for a suicide mission, which entails to infiltrate and destroy an impregnable fortress, behind enemy lines, in Nazi-occupied Norway.
This beautiful blond actress was born in Holland in 1946. She is probably best known to genre fans for her part as Fabienne Béranger, Tomas Milian's lover in "La Vittima Designata" (1971). Apart from the occasional Eurowestern, she also appears in "Histoires Extraordinaires" (1968), "La Mano che Nutre la Morte", "Le Amanti del Mostro", the obscure and rather terrible "5 Donne per l'Assassino" (all 1974) while in the same busy year she also bears her considerable charms in "Prigione di Donne".
