In an ingenious plan, members of the Russian Secret Service murder the son of CIA agent Dan Slater (Yul Brynner), making it look like a skiing accident. Slater travels to Austria to attend to the funeral and becomes suspicious surrounding the circumstances of his son's death. Once gorgeous spy Gina (Britt Ekland) has lured him into a trap, the plot is to have him replaced by a double who will then infiltrate the agency. Based on "Legacy of a Spy" by Henry S. Maxfield and marvellously shot in a fairytale ski resort by cinematographer Denys Coop.
