In the wake of Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissing the appeal of 17 teachers of Panjab University (PU), who had appealed for enhancement of their retirement age from 60 to 65 years, the Panjab University Teacher's Association (PUTA) office bearers met Vice-Chancellor Professor R C Sobti on Friday.

Sobti has assured the members them that the matter will be looked into and also be taken up in the Syndicate meeting scheduled for Saturday, said PUTA president Jaspal Kaur Kaang. These 17 teachers from various departments had retired in August 2010.
